I have lots of fun spring activities for the primary classroom that I’d like to share with you! Does your class get spring fever like mine does? Read on to see some spring activities to keep your students actively engaged in fun lessons.
Learning With My Peeps!
Having your students take time to reflect on all of the learning they have done this year is a great spring activity to do in your classroom. With a writing prompt and some sentence starters my kiddos wrote all about the fun learning they did this year.
What says springtime better than some cute Peep bunnies? This springtime writing activity makes an awesome bulletin board or classroom door display. To make this Learning With My Peeps display personalized for your class I’ve included an editable PDF. All you do is quickly type your student’s names in a list and the names generate on to each Peep! I think this is a fun and adorable spring activity for your classroom!
Spring Journal Writing
Even though the school year is winding down, spring themed journal writing is an easy activity to incorporate into your classroom every day. I use this spring journal as morning work, but can also be used as a writing center. Each prompt is spring themed and this journal covers narrative, informative, and opinion writing. These spring writing activities come with choices of lined paper to make it easy to incorporate in any primary classroom. The best part it this spring writing activity is print-and-go! The writing prompt, space to draw, and lines to write are on each page. No prep for the teacher other than duplicating the journal for your class. Another go-to super easy spring activity for your classroom!
Spring Themed STEM
Spring STEM task cards are another fun and easy spring activity for your classroom. These task cards can be done with any STEM supplies you have on hand. Make a field of tulips, engineer a kite, build a home for a baby spring animal are just some of the fun spring activities these STEM cards offer. This set also comes with a foldable response booklet. No cutting or stapling to prep for this spring activity, just print and go! These Springtime STEM task cards are great for morning work, centers, or early finishers.
Spring Activities for Earth Day
Spring is a great time to learn about taking care of the earth. These activities are sure to keep your kiddos involved in learning. I start this spring activity in my classroom with several read alouds. A few of my favorite books are:
Then, I present the class with a writing prompt and some sentence starters. I always find that my kiddos love this spring activity because they love to show how they know all about caring for the earth.
Another fun thing to do with this spring activity is directed drawing. I like to use old newspapers for this activity to show the kids how we can reduce the amount of paper we are using by reusing an old newspaper. The added bonus is that the directed drawing looks awesome on newspaper!
With or without the writing this directed drawing spring activity makes a fun and easy spring bulletin board display too!
Peeps Sight Word Egg Hunt
What better spring activity in your classroom than an egg hunt? You can grab this freebie in my TpT store. All you need to do is print out the Peeps with the sight words already printed on them. Put one peep in each egg. Hide the eggs around your classroom and have an egg hunt. This resource includes a recording page for the students to use. I have them find the egg, write the sight word, and then put the egg back in its hiding place. The kiddos always have fun with this spring activity in my classroom!
I hope you got some fun ideas for spring activities to do in your primary classroom! Also don’t forget to check out my coding without computers post for more classroom fun! Thanks for stopping by!
